Segovia April 16th

Robyn, Maria, and I took a train to Segovia Saturday morning. Twenty seven minutes later we were there and rode a bus the rest of the way. The bus dropped us off right outside the aqueduct. It was a magnificent sight on another gorgeous day. We took our time walking around the square taking pictures and the girls window shopped. We walked to the top of the aqueduct and then made our way to a small cathedral. The town is very quaint with narrow streets and beautiful architecture on the walls of the houses. We went to Plaza Mayor and right off the square is the large cathedral de Santa Maria which is the last gothic style church built in Spain. It was completed in 1768 so it is not as old as a lot of the churches we had seen but still a sight to see. We took a lot of pictures and then went to get lunch. It was hard to find a place to eat outside because of all the people but fortunastely Maria saw a place on a small side street that had a table available. It was perfect and the food was really good. After lunch, Maria and I went to see the Alcazar while Robyn went to do some shopping. Robyn had already seen the alcazar so she had no interest in seeing it again. Due to a mixup on my part, we thought we only had a couple of hours before we had to catch our train home. So Maria and I walked fast to the Alcazar and took some great pictures of the palace and surrounding countryside. The ceilings were different in each room of the Alcazar and all incredible. We walked quickly back to meet Robyn and get a taxi to the train station. It was only then that I realized my mistake. I thought the train left at 6:20 but it was really 8:20. We were all tired and there was a train leaving at 6:12 so we changed our tickets and went home. We had seen all the main sights so we didn't really miss anything but more shopping time. We did have time to get some souveniers so all was not lost.
